A partnership between ACT and Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department, Storybook Land Theatre (SBLT) performs in the Storybook Land Castle in Aberdeen’s Wylie Park.

SBLT typically performs seven shows in seven weeks from June through August.  The season cast is comprised of five to six paid actors (16 and older) under the direction of YPT Education Director Brian T. Schultz.  Since 2013, the SBLT season cast has been comprised of only actors who have grown up in YPT.

Area youth join the regular SBLT cast for two camps at the beginning of each season.

The Discover Storybook Land Theatre camp meets for two weeks at the beginning of June to rehearse and perform a show with a large cast – up to 30.

The Middle School Storybook Theatre camp meets the week after, but only gets five rehearsals before performing the following week.  Cast size is smaller, around 15.  Many of these young actors aspire to be part of the regular SBLT cast someday and this camp gives them a taste of the typical rehearsal and performance schedule.

SBLT also writes and performs original scripts.  Click HERE for perusal scripts and licensing information.

Auditions for the SBLT season cast are typically held late April-early May.
